Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a wicked place. It is so big and busy but is nestled in to this little spot between the harbour and the mountains. It is super convenient and easy to get around with many different modes of transpo available and lots of English to help along the way. Al and I experienced some 'reverse culture shock' as we found ourselves staring at all the 'whities' at the restaurants/bars and we both found that we were reading EVERY single sign written in English whether it was important or not. We met up with our buddy Michael (who taught with us in Taiwan) right away and he happened to have a few friends in Hong Kong who were able to take us out and show us around. We had fun exploring and seeing all that H.K. had to offer and although SUPER EXPENSIVE, it was a tremendous way to start our adventure. It's great to have Michael around for this part of the ride as he is super easy to chat with and is very easy going about all that we do. We're currently in Beijing, another huge city and we spent today riding an old school bike around the city and seeing some of the major sights. So far, Beijing is great and MUCH CHEAPER than H.K. We boutght large beers today for about $0.30 cdn!! Our hostel is super great as it is big, clean, cheap and very centrally located. We're off tomorrow a.m at 6:30 to walk the GREAT WALL! Now, we're off to bed and we will post more when we have some time. Hope you're all well.
